This coat style was the essential garment for Victorian business class men. We have been working on this for some time and believe this is as close as we can get to a perfect replica.
It is made up in high quality black 100% wool barathea with added contrast lapels.
Lapel fabric is cotton/viscose ottoman.
There is an elegant swing in the back skirt and internally there are two deep jetted pockets either side.
The shoulders are perfectly rounded with no inauthentic shoulder pads. We have used floating canvas interfacing in the fronts.
We have not used cloth covered buttons as they are too liable to failure. Instead we have commissioned ones which mimic cloth from an Italian button manufacturer.
The only inauthentic detail is the cuffs which are separate and only tacked in place. This is done deliberately to make the sleeve length alterable.
Fully lined in 100% black Italian self stripe cotton
We now have supported stock in sizes from 36" to 46" with 34", 48" and 50" being added soon.
