We trade chiefly with costume professionals. We are however pleased to take orders from anyone with an interest in historic clothing as our stock is all made by established manufacturers and therefore suitable for daily wear. 

While we are delighted to sell our clothes to women as well as men it is worth noting that the fit is not always suited to the female form. Our trousers really only work on women with similar hip and waist measurements. We apologise about this but we are primarily a menswear supplier.

Returns Policy

* Extended Returns Policy - CHRISTMAS 2023 - Our returns policy is extended to 40 days for orders placed on or after the 15th November 2023 and on or before the 22nd December 2023. Any orders placed after this period will be subject to our standard returns policy.*

We have a 28 day returns policy in which you can return any unwanted items and we will exchange or refund them as you wish. This period extends from the day you place your order to the day we receive your return.

We DO NOT accept sale items back as a return. You will not be valid for a refund or an exchange if you return back a sale item.

We will only accept returns or exchanges if they are still in their original packaging and in an unmarked, re-saleable condition. 

We will decide whether or not the items returned are in a re-saleable condition. If they do not meet our standards the following procedures may apply.

  1. We will send the goods back out to you at your expence.
  2. We will not refund you or exchange the items.
  3. You will be charged a re-stocking fee.

Where a large percentage of your order is returned for a refund at any stage, we reserve the right to charge a re-stocking fee. This percentage will vary according to volume/value.

Returns must be sent at your expense. We will cover the cost of sending exchanges back out which are sent by second class post or international standard unless requested otherwise. Customs and Duty fees are to be paid by the customer for returned items and for exchanged goods.

If goods are returned without the required filled in paperwork, we will not process your return. Please contact us the relevant returns form and ensure it is filled out correctly. This form should be emailed to us and enclosed in the package.

If you did not receive a returns form in your order, please do email sales@darcyclothing.com and we can send you a digital copy.

Please be aware that refunds involving currency transactions will attract a minimum surcharge of 2.5%.

If returning your order outside of the UK, please mark your parcel with the following:

Sizes

Formal shirts are sold by necksize which is measured at the base of the neck. The majority of shirts are made 1/2" larger to allow for shrinkage. The majority of the sleeve lengths are designed to be on the long side as we find this is popular with many of our customers.

Please note that as with all clothing no measurements can be 100% accurate. There will always be a variation as clothing is not manufactured to engineering standards

Prices / VAT

Please note that prices do not include VAT. This will be added in the checkout stage.

We are obliged to charge VAT on Carriage because it is classed as a service (Post and Packing) and therefore attracts tax according to HMRC regulations.

As of 1st January 2021, the UK is no longer part of the EU. From this date, customers from outside of the UK will not be charged UK VAT at the point of purchase, but may be liable for duty and/ or VAT charges once the goods have been shipped. This will be according to the rules in your country. These additional charges are to be borne by you. We have no control over these charges and we can not predict when they may occur or how much they will be. This is because customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further details. 

Postage and packing (shipping)

All orders are delivered by the Royal Mail or courier depending on the value of your goods and the chosen option at checkout. This cost will be added after the checkout button. Please contact us for details of worldwide delivery charges.

UK Customers - ROYAL MAIL STRIKE ACTION Dec 2022:

We have temporarily stopped using Royal Mail for delivery of our orders due to strike action. Orders with Royal Mail are taking 2-3 weeks to arrive. They are also not providing refunds to any parcels that are lost. We sincerely apologise for any issues this may cause. Our shipping options for the UK are now only Express Courier, Express Courier by 1pm and Saturday Express. Our costing has had to reflect this change. However, we have lowered the cost as much as possible for our customers. We will review this decision in January 2023 depending on Royal Mails actions. Our most sincere apologies again for this. 

As of October 2022, we have shipped almost all orders with our courier, DHL. Our shipping prices now reflect this change. DHL is a more reliable service with guaranteed delivery dates and more flexible options when receiving parcels. We do still offer Royal Mail first and second class, however this is not a guaranteed service and we cannot guarantee delivery dates or times when Royal Mail are on strike. If you would like to avoid strike action delays, we would recommend you select Express Courier at checkout so your order is sent with DHL.

For certain orders, the carriage added on the web site is insufficient. Should this happen we will contact you about the additional cost. If we do require extra payment from you and your shipping is selected as express, your order will be held for a maximum of three days before being sent standard shipping if this is possible. We will not send out garments without the full amount required to do so.

Delivery Times and Services

Most items will be in stock and will be dispatched the day after your order is received. Otherwise, please allow 7-10 working days. Please order EXPRESS service for goods that are required quickly. If EXPRESS orders are placed after 3pm on that day, they will not be processed until the following day for delivery the next. EXPRESS orders placed outside our working hours i.e. Bank Holidays and/or Weekends, will not be processed until we are back so will not be delivered until a day after that.

All of our shipping times are estimates and may differ. None of our shipping times are guaranteed. Our shipping costs are constantly being reviewed so we cannot give estimates on costs. The best way to find the shipping costs is to process through our checkout. You will not be charged at this point. All of our shipping costs are calculated based off of the subtotal of an order NOT by weight.

We guarantee to answer all queries within 2 working days, although the majority will be answered instantly. We also value and welcome all criticisms or suggestions from our customers. Please note all returned goods must be in an unworn re-saleable condition with the original packaging.

Security

We will not make your personal details available to anybody else. Credit card information supplied by you is entered directly to Shopify Payments secure server. We neither handle nor store credit card information.
