These informal waistcoats have been taken directly from an original garment found in an old farmworker's cottage. We have copied the construction of the original garment where the front panel is cut in one piece and the pockets formed by folding up the lower section. This means we couldn't line the fronts but the advantage is that the pocket has no base seam which can be a weak area.
We have named them Gardening Waistcoats as the pockets are ideal for storing small precious items like seeds where the buttons prevent the contents from spilling out.
We have washed our photographed sample at 40 degrees and it came out with a good aged look. It shrank slightly so if in doubt buy a larger size. There are only four sizes as these are not close fitting garments. The back strap means they can be adjusted. The back is lined in 100% cotton ticking stripe but the fronts are unlined.
Available in Lovat and Navy. Both with cream ticking lining. These improve with washing.
