These informal waistcoats have been taken directly from an original garment found in an old farmworker's cottage. It is likely to date from 1930's.
We have copied the construction of the original garment, where the front panel is cut in one piece and the pockets formed by folding up the lower section. This means we couldn't line the fronts, but the advantage is that the pocket has no base seam, which can be a weak area.
We have named them Gardening Waistcoats, as the pockets are ideal for storing small precious items like seeds.
These are not close fitting garments. The back strap means that they can be adjusted. The back is lined in 100% cotton ticking stripe, but the fronts are unlined.
We recommend dry cleaning if you want to retain a pristine look however they can be machine washed for a more rustic look. They will shrink slightly in length from 25" to 24"
